So apparently I found a potential fix for the game on Reddit:

However, I wanted to show you all what it would be like just loading up the game and not thinking about having to go to desktop mode or anything else. Especially since it's on sale right now, people might not want to fool with "fixing" a game, they just want to push play and play the game lol.
