• The protagonist arrives in Rockport City driving a racing version of the BMW M3 GTR (E46). Following Mia Townsend who drives a Mazda RX-8, he ends up being pulled over by Sergeant Cross' Chevrolet Corvette C6.R at an intersection. Cross and his partner get called to a chase in progress right before they can arrest the player. As an act of frustration, Cross uses his car key to scratch the player's BMW. Races seem to be in the player's favor until a group of racers led by Clarence "Razor" Callahan, #15 on the Blacklist (a list of the most wanted racers in Rockport City) at that time, sabotages the player's engine and seizes the car after losing in a pink slip race. The protagonist is then arrested by Cross only to be released later due to a lack of evidence. Mia picks up the player from the local precinct informing him about Razor's new status on the Blacklist. She helps him by providing him with a safehouse and a new car so he can work his way up the Blacklist.
