The first Gradius (Nemesis in Europe and USA) introduces us to the power up system where you can choose what to upgrade on the fly after picking up enough power up points. It’s a great system and the very inventive for the time. This game also introduced us to the Easter Island head enemies which the series is famous for.
The weapons are good and the controls are smooth. Unfortunately, all of the bosses are the same boss.
