This is part 1, where Sal discusses the increasing plethora of experimentally verified and tentatively verified means of changing nuclear structure beyond radioactive decay. This has implications for YEC as Sal insists the accelerated nuclear decay model of YECs may not be the solution for the appearance of age.
Photonuclear processes have been unequivocally vindicated experimentally as a possible avenue for changing nuclear structure. But that is still a high-energy reaction.
However, Sal suggested heavy electron quasi-particles in condensed matter physics could possibly reduce the Coulomb barrier, and thus nuclear fusion could happen at low energy. This is akin to experimentally verified Muon-catalyzed fusion at room temperature!!!
At the time when Sal said it on his youtube channel that was his off-the-cuff speculation. BUT, lo and behold, great minds think alike, and Sal found this speculation elaborated by Anthony Zuppero and Thomas J. Dolan that agrees with experimental observation!!!
