Based off of an anime and manga called "Musashi no Ken" which features the son of two Kendo champions named Musashi. He strives to become as great at Kendo as his parents. The entire story centers around the world of Kendo and its up and coming competitors. The anime is broken up in to two parts. The first part follows Musashi's early years in grade school while the second part follows his high school years. In the first episode, Musashi befriends an Akita puppy who is by his side throughout the series.

The game was originally planned to be a home port of the 1984 arcade game Great Swordsman.

The first three levels of the single player mode is a platformer and depicts Musashi during his training, going through obstacle courses collecting swords along the way. At the same time, his pet Akita will be running the course and Musashi can't go too far behind him. The fourth level is the actual tournament and 5 opponents need to be defeated. The swords collected during the obstacle courses allow Musashi to do special strike moves if he has enough. When you win the tournament, the game loops again at a higher difficulty. When the second loop is finished, the game ends.

In the two player mode, each player selects what characters to choose by pressing buttons, and once every selection is done, a Kendo match happens. The winner is the player who won 3 or more times.

I don't get all of the secret items, but they're not needed to beat the game. -
