The original Rygar video game was released as an arcade game in 1986 by Tecmo under the name Warrior of Argus in Japan. The game was later ported by Temco to multiple consoles, one of these consoles was the Nintendo Entertainment system in 1990. Before this the game was ported under the name Warrior of Argus: Extreme Great Charge on the Famicom in Japan in 1987.
