A bridge is a type of computer network device that provides interconnection with other bridge networks that use the same protocol. Bridge devices work at thedata link layer of the Open System Interconnect(OSI) model, connecting two different networks together and providing communication between them.
When STA is used, each interface on a bridge is assigned a value. As the bridge forwards thedata, the value is attached to the packet. When another bridge sees the data, if the STA valuefor the interface is higher than that assigned to its interfaces, the bridge doesn’t forward thedata, thus eliminating the possibility of a bridging loop.
