Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask Of The Betrayer [PC XLP] pt 89: Fugue Plane Fugitive
It seems pretty clear to me that this wall is a creation of Myrkul. Who else would have been capable of such sadistic creations? Draining the identity and the personality of the faithless is an act of raw and brutal evil, but also clearly necromantic in nature.
This game really is fascinating in what concepts and theories it delves into. I really wish it had been a longer game and more in depth in exploring these themes.
In this particular video the visit to Fugue Plane was made possible by a portal in the dream world entered via the dream states of the petitioners, or more likely the hags themselves. There is a definite difference between what options you have available when you can interact with a dreaming petitioner or when you just have a dream portal open to you. Obviously someone independent of the petitioners is limiting or controlling whose dream you have access to at any given point, but also when to present you a dream portal through which to face various "moments of truth," chances to glimpse into what remains of the memories, dreams and hopes of the Betrayer himself.
So, ostensibly, you enter the Fugue Plane through the dream world portal. But then you get into a real fight. And you claim a Mask fragment that you carry into the waking world. Just like the Dream Dagger. And the other Mask fragments.
There seems to be a point at which you have to ask yourself, when does it stop existing in my head in a dream, and when does it become a real journey and a real place you are going...? Does one really just dream his way into the Fugue Plane...?
