NEW 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 - REVIEW Driving, interior & exterior
The 2024 model of a well-known off-road champion brings with it a host of upgrades and features that enhance comfort, safety, and technology. Interior enhancements make for a more comfortable and modern experience, while safety enhancements bolster the vehicle's reputation as a reliable adventurer. An interesting feature is the Trails Offroad tech that is sure to appeal to 4x4 enthusiasts. The vehicle's release is slated for later in 2023, and though the price hasn't been confirmed, it's expected to be a bit higher than the 2023 model, which started at $82,495.
Aesthetically, the most noticeable change for this model is a redesigned seven-slot grille. This not only reinforces the vehicle's identity but also eases the installation of the available Warn winch with an 8,000-pound capacity. The 2024 edition also includes an integrated stealth antenna, ten new wheel designs across the lineup, and standard LED reflector headlamps and fog lamps. Other notable features include power heated exterior mirrors, skid plates for the fuel tank and transfer case, heavy-duty tubular steel rock rails, and 17-inch beadlock-capable, low gloss smoked bronze wheels wrapped in 35-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. The color palette is extensive, with a new color, Anvil, being introduced.
This model is the longest in the range, with an overall length of 192.5 inches, including the spare tire, thanks to the standard inclusion of the X treme 35 package. It's also wider and stands taller, with width and height coming in at 79.3 inches and 75.5 inches, respectively. In line with its off-road pedigree, it has impressive approach and departure angles of 46.7 and 39.8 degrees, with a breakover angle of 24.5 degrees. The ground clearance is 11.1 inches, and the vehicle's curb weight is 5,268 lbs.
Powering this beast is a specially tuned 6.4-liter V8 engine producing 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Almost 75% of its peak torque is available at just above idle speed, making it ideal for overcoming tough obstacles. This robust power also ensures a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission tuned for the high torque system, with paddle shifters for additional engagement. The vehicle features a Selec-Trac full-time transfer case with a 4LO ratio of 2.72:1.
