You're looking at this video in GLORIOUS, BEAUTIFUL, 60 frames per second (where available)!

But if you're watching this in 480p or lower, you have to change the quality settings to see it. When you click the gear icon, instead of the highest quality saying just 720p, it'll say 720p60. 60fps can only be done in 720p or higher.

Anyway, I bought myself a new toy! And it's the AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable.

This will be the capture card that I will use for all of my future reviews, and they will all be 60fps (unless the game I review isn't).

This capture card is amazing! There's two ways to capture gameplay: either via your PC with the RECentral software (which you gotta download from the AVerMedia website since it doesn't come with an installation CD), or as a standalone capture card (also known as PC-Free Mode).

This card is very easy and very user-friendly, especially in PC-Free Mode! All you gotta do is hook up your console to your capture card, plug the capture card to your TV, press the big red button, and that's it. And when you're finished recording, press the big red button again to stop. It's that simple.

To record in PC-Free Mode, you need an SD card (regular, NOT microSD) that's AT LEAST Class 10. You can use either 16GB or 32GB, but I highly recommend 32GB. You can get a Class 10 32GB SDHC card at RadioShack or any nearby electronics store for about $20-ish. In fact, they're cheaper online. And if your computer doesn't have a built-in SD card reader, you can buy an external SD card reader for really really cheap.

Now in terms of the video quality, in RECentral, the LGP records at 1080p, 30fps and 720p, 60fps at up to 60mbps. Can't use the highest resolution and frame rate at the same time with this. The videos render in MP4 format. In PC-Free Mode, the LGP records only in 720p, 60fps at up to 16mbps, and the videos render in TS format.

Honestly, I see virtually no difference between 16mbps and 60mbps. The video quality in PC-Free Mode looks phemonenal! It renders at 720p, 60fps beautifully! I think I'm gonna use PC-Free Mode a lot more often.

The TS format plays just fine in most media players. However, if you're importing the file to Sony Vegas, there's a good chance that it might freeze on you. Fortunately though, AVerMedia was kind enough to include at TS to MP4 converter on their website, so kudos to them for doing that.

You can get the AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable on Amazon for about $155 right now: http://www.amazon.com/AVerMedia-Portable-Capture-Xbox360-60Mbps/dp/B00B2IZ3B0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427829573&sr=8-1&keywords=avermedia+live+gamer+portable

And yes, I do ramble a lot in this video, so if you don't like rambling, just watching video on mute if you just wanna enjoy the gameplay.
