New Robin Hood Tale Brainstorm notes
he was a highly skilled archer and swordsman being of noble birth, having fought in the Crusades before returning to England to find his lands taken by the Sheriff. a member of the yeoman class. dressed in Lincoln green, his lover, Maid Marian, his band of outlaws, the Merry Men, and his chief opponent, the Sheriff of Nottingham. assisting Prince John in usurping the rightful but absent King Richard, to whom Robin Hood remains loyal. Alan-a-Dale a wandering minstrel who became a member of Robin's band of outlaws, the "Merry Men". Robin rescues Alan's sweetheart from an unwanted marriage to an old knight. They stop the bishop from proceeding with the ceremony, and Robin Hood, dressed in the bishop's robes, marries Alan to his bride. Alan-a-Dale kind of sounds like Aladdin, maybe Aladdin drank from the Holy Grail or became a Werewolf. Arthur a Bland where he is there with Robin and the other soon to be merrymen after the ransacking of the Blue Boar Inn. Bishop of Hereford a wealthy and greedy clergyman who is robbed by Robin and his Merry Men. David of Doncaster the sheriff is giving an archery contest, and David, "a brave young man," warns Robin against going, because it is a trap. Sir Guy of Gisbourne where he is a hired killer who attempts to kill Robin Hood but is killed by him. he has become a romantic rival to Robin Hood for Maid Marian's love. Guy is a hired killer seeking Robin Hood. They have a shooting contest, and Robin wins with ease. Robin identifies himself to the suspicious Guy, and the two fight. When Robin trips, Guy stabs him, but (after a brief prayer to Mary) Robin kills him with his sword. He dons the distinctive horsehide, cuts off Guy's head, because Guy is a werewolf, sticks it on the tip of his bow and slashes the face, rendering it unrecognisable. He then blows Guy's horn to signal victory to the Sheriff. Disguised as Guy, and carrying what he passes off as Robin Hood's head, Robin goes to rescue Little John. He convinces the sheriff to be allowed to kill Little John, but instead cuts him loose with an "Irish knife" John then takes a bow and shoots the Sheriff through the heart. Guy's only constant is villainy, but a frequently occurring theme is the "love triangle story" involving Robin, Marian, and Guy “Little” John is said to have been Robin Hood's chief lieutenant and second-in-command of the Merry Men. he captures the sorrowful knight and, when Robin Hood decides to pay the knight's mortgage for him, accompanies him as a servant. Little prauncer a terer of shetes/a wagger of ballockes when other men slepes." Will Scarlet He helps capture Richard at the Lee and when Robin lends that knight money to pay off his debts, Scarlet stands laughing at Little John for the cost of clothing the knight (Richard at the Lee) being nothing. ut after the knight has received four hundred pounds, 3 yards of every coloured cloth, a horse and saddle Will Scarlet insists the knight should have a pair Robin. kills a page boy so that the boy can not bear word that the outlaws killed the monk of the title. He then disguises himself as the page and Little John disguises himself as the monk. The implication that Much is of small stature Will Stutely was possibly confused with Will Scarlett because of the similarities in their surnames. Will was set to spy on the Sheriff of Nottingham and captured rescued from the gallows Stutely is one of the men summoned by Robin's horn when John Little bests him, and when Robin takes him into the band, it is Stutely who christens Little John and gives him his outlaw name. Friar Tuck was a former monk of Fountains Abbey (or in some cases, St Mary's Abbey in York, which is also the scene of some other Robin Hood tales) who was expelled by his order because of his lack of respect for authority. Because of this, and in spite of his taste for good food and wine, he became the chaplain of Robin's band. his first encounter with Robin results in a battle of wits in which first one and then the other gains the upper hand and forces the other to carry him across a river. This ends in the Friar tossing Robin into the river. a physically fit man and a skilled swordsman and archer with a hot-headed temper but also fat, bald and jovial monk with a great love of food and ale Gilbert Whitehand s the only one whose archery skills match those of Robin. appears along with other Merry Men during the shooting match for the gold and silver arrow, and again in Barnsdale Forest during a visit by the disguised king. he had a withered hand, maybe like Gilbert Whitehand was psychic and one time when the Grim Reaper was visiting Robin after hearing Robin’s tale, forcefully tried to grab the Grim Reaper’s Scythe and take Reaper powers for himself. Well it sounds like the story ends with the rightful King being in disguised after returning from the crusades and reveals himself after investigating the Sheriff and his son King John, and sets things right.
