Gruugnar was raised by wolves when his parents were brutally murdered by bandits when he was a very young child. When he came to adulthood, he swore revenge on all bandits. But the wolves taught him that banditry was actually a side-effect of civilized urban life, and so human civilization itself was ultimately the enemy. But then they were wolves: of course they would think so. ;)
Gruugnar avoids all the trappings of civilization. He will enter a city only to trade. He doesn't do alchemy, enchanting or any magic aside from healing, and that only in emergencies. He prefers to get his healing from delicious fresh meats, fruits and vegetables, and he is a big fan of juicing. Which, wolves don't juice, so I am not sure where he got that. He wears a loincloth to keep his bare skin exposed to the winds of nature as they should be, and wears no boots or shoes.
