New World has changed a lot over the past year. With the launch of New World Aeternum, crossplay across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and a shift to seasonal content, the game is in a very different place compared to its low point back in 2024. In this video I’ll break down everything that’s happened to New World recently, cover the state of the game in 2025, and give my honest thoughts on whether it’s finally worth returning.
Since New World Aeternum launched in October 2024, the game has seen a revamped new player experience, new raids, cross-platform play, solo challenges with Soul Trials, improved PvP systems, and more frequent seasonal updates. Player numbers have climbed back up from their lowest point, and sentiment around the MMO is starting to shift.
Now in 2025, New World is entering Season 10: Nighthaven, which feels more like an expansion than a season. This update adds:
A brand new gothic-themed zone, Nighthaven (vampires & werewolves)
A new 10-player raid: The Isle of Night
Catacombs: procedurally generated 3-player dungeons with risk vs reward gameplay
A new Outpost Rush map “The Tower” with vertical fortress combat
Gear set bonuses for unique builds & endgame progression
Level cap increase from 65 → 70, gearscore cap to 800
