As a huge MMO fan playing games like Runescape, Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, Destiny 2, Eve Online, Wildstar, Rift, City of Heroes, etc. I am SO EXCITED to play New World because I feel like it's going to be the biggest new MMO IP to release this year. I played the closed beta for 5 hours and I wanted to share my first impressions of the game and its features.

During my Twitch stream, I got one question more than any other: how does this game compare to WoW and FFXIV? In this video I do a comparison and talk about the differences, what makes New World different from other MMOs, and what New World is doing right that I'm excited about.

My early impression is that I would recommend this game to you if you're a fan of MMOs and are looking for something fresh and modern with great graphics and lots of opportunities to group with other players for pve content or pvp content. Where Shadowlands, TBC Classic, and FFXIV feel like same old same old, New World brings newness while giving you familiar gameplay loops. The game is $40 USD one-time payment with no subscription fee and a cosmetic cash shop (although some convenience cash shop purchases are likely to come in 2022). If you buy the game now, you get access to the closed beta until Aug 2, and then the full game will launch on Aug 31.
