When there was Madden 05 and ESPN NFL 2K5, there was also another American football game released around the same time. NFL Gameday 2005. The NFL Gameday franchise was what I grew up with when it came to football. Not the other two, so I don't have as much nostalgia as I do with this series.

While it's not known why Gameday 2005 is only on PS1 when the other one before it did get PS2 releases. My guess is that they didn't want to compete directly with the other two juggernauts and were content being that option for people who somehow had yet to move on to the newer consoles. Weird to think given that the PS3 would release in two years at this point.
