The racers has equip deadly stun mines has disable electronics and briefly causes the victim to lose control of their car. they also equip Shock Wave make close combat difficult and damaging. these two weapons combined with a chaotic driving style means that running and gunning your throw to get the bust is not the best way to battle
At least not for me so I take a much slowly approach watching my distance, time my hits, avoid the mines, and keep my EMP locked on. it's tendentious but it works
