This was always going to be the make break for me on the EXTREME difficulty. One reset and 4 miles of endless gun fire. There's no other route to take, no cops to distract the mob, no special driving move to take them out. No the only way through this level is to run and avoid as much gunfire as you can. There is a pattern and if you to the the gun fire if pay attention enough but ultimately running is the best tool.

The struggle became so great I had to switch to automatic just to get pass the 1st stage and to maintain speed. Honestly however the only reason I was able to beat this level was because I got push into the tunnel for the 2nd stage.
