Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch #002, Motorville: Philip and Oliver's Dream Machine
This is video #002 in my playthrough of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. We start a new game with the "Normal" difficulty setting. The game's introductory scenes and opening credits play.
After the opening credits (time index 3:21), we find ourselves in Motorville, a take-off on a small 1950's American town. We quickly meet Oliver, a cheerful boy. After he collects the groceries at Leila's Milk Bar, we gain control over him. The first object is to talk to his friend Philip. What are those kids up to?
Suddenly, we learn that Oliver is being spied on by a woman and her talking bird.
When we get back control over Oliver (time index 6:32), we get a little tutorial about the mini map. R1 will switch to a larger map. A star will show Oliver's next destination. Oliver heads back for home with the groceries.
When he gets home (time index 8:40), there is a scene with him and his mother. Oliver is so un-subtle, I don't understand why his mom didn't suspect something.
After Oliver leaves for school, there is another little scene between Oliver and Philip in front of Oliver's house. A "dream machine," huh? I wonder what it is. And why does Phil call Oliver "dumb-dumb"?
At nightfall (time index 10:59), Oliver will take his chance to sneak out. We get introduced to the main menu. There aren't many options available yet, just Settings and Save. Unlike Kingdom Hearts, we can change the Difficulty in the Settings menu.
Phil's garage is east-southeast of Oliver's house. When Oliver reaches the area of the garage (time index 13:40), Philip unveils his new toy. Uh oh. Looks like that boy's got too much time on his hands. Even worse, Philip is going to let Oliver drive it first.
Before that, Oliver has to check the street to make sure the coast is clear (time index 15:56). To the west and south, Oliver will run into a ghostly girl who gives him some *really good* advice. Of course, being your typical boy, Oliver won't follow it.
While Ollie and Phil roll out their toy, there is another scene with the mystery woman and the bird (time index 17:28). It seems that their intentions towards Oliver are none too beneficent.
There is another scene in Oliver's house (time index 18:25) as Ollie's mom wakes up from a nightmare. She finally puts two and two together and figures out that Oliver is up to something.
Thanks for watching!
