Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch #101, Vault of Tears (1/3): A Froggy Party and the Frog Prince
This is video #101 in my playthrough of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. This video does not contain commentary. To view the commentary version, click here: http://youtu.be/-HPFYV6_-ig
Now that the party has the Map of the Stones and Tengri, it is time to go after the Magic Stones. The first place that the party will explore is the Vault of Tears, the previously locked ruin located on Shipwreck Shore.
As they enter the Vault of Tears, Esther echoes my thoughts: how is Drippy's lantern supposed to get moldy?
As they go downstairs to the chamber to the north, they find an interesting snake statue (time index 1:52). It transforms the party into frogs! Oh, dear. Fortunately, the group's familiars are not affected.
They also notice a colorful frog, which seems to beckon them farther into the ruin. After the scene, the party continues on their way. Before they get too far, they metamorphose Mitey into Dynamite (time index 7:18).
The route leads northeast to the next room, and then north to a flooded room (time index 8:37). In this room, the party can swim to the western exit.
In the large northwest room, there is a large door to the west (time index 9:14). The group finds their rainbow frog friend, which leads them south to a magic circle. The circle turns them back to normal! Nice!
Just south of the circle, the party finds a chest containing an Espresso (time index 11:28).
Back in the room to the north (time index 11:48), the party chats with the Rainbow Frog with Nature's Tongue. It asks them to help someone. But who?
Further north, a stairway leads down to a dank, dark prison (time index 12:15). A huge frog is in the cell down here.
Naturally, Oliver has to use Spring Lock to open up the door to the frog's cell (time index 13:32). Esther realizes that he is the Frog Prince, the subject of an old Al Mamoon fairy tale. Esther recites the fairy tale, amid rude interruptions from Swaine. Unfortunately, this is not a tale where they live happily ever after.
But it does seem that Prince Ali is real and still alive. Worse, someone has returned the dreaded serpent Aapep to life. It's pretty clear that the party will have to defeat that serpent.
The party decides to try using the magic circle to lift the curse on Prince Ali, but he was cursed by a potion, not the snake statue, so I doubt whether the circle will work.
Thanks for watching!
