Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch #108 Commentary, Yule: Visiting the Elder and Horace
This is video #108 in my playthrough of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. This video contains commentary. To view the non-commentary version, click here: http://youtu.be/eesoUPfh3eM
The party arrives in the frosty village of Yule, home of the snowfolk, in the Winter Wonderlands. For now, they can only enter through the southern entrance. Strange.
As they enter, it is readily apparent that Swaine is cold. The town is inhabited by humans and big fluffy creatures called Tomtes.
After the short scene, the party heads to Swift Solutions (time index 2:20). There, they meet a Tomte who somehow recognizes Oliver. Apparently, this big guy is learning about archaeology. He is studying from Purrofessor Tabitha, a grimalkin archaeologist. Ollie is famous! She even knows about his quest for Mornstar's magic stones. She directs the party to visit the village elder so they can get into the Glittering Grotto. But before that, she suggests they rest at the Cat's Cradle.
So, the party next heads to the Cat's Cradle at the entrance to town (time index 10:47). Good grief, this place charges 240 Guilders a night! For staying at the inn, the party earns the "Other Islands" page for the Regions of the World section of their Wizard's Companion.
At night, Oliver dreams about a scene between Shadar and Alicia.
In the morning, after Oliver relates the dream to his comrades, the party raids the Cat's Cradle's treasures. A red chest contains a tasty Cheeseburger (time index 15:07). The urn can contain a Nix-Be-Gone, a Sleep-Be-Gone, or a Phoenix Feather.
In the northeast part of town, the party finds the elder's house/igloo (time index 15:55). The elder is the big Tomte with a staff. The elder outfits the party with new winter clothing and gives them permission to visit the Glittering Grotto. Nice!
Inside the elder's house, an urn may contain a Wildflower Sundae, a Ruby Ripple Ice Cream, or a See-Through Pie (time index 18:33).
Also in the elder's house, the party finds Horace, the familiar ghost (time index 18:45). How goes it, Horace? Again, he gives the party a riddle. He asks the party to find out the name of the icy flowers used in Tomte stews. The answer is on page 139 of the Wizard's Companion. The answer is: Blizzard Bloom. Horace rewards the party with the Cloudburst spell. This spell can nix enemies so they cannot use magic. I wonder just what the snow reminds Horace of.
Thanks for watching!
