NICK54222 MUGEN: Haruhi Suzumiya (me) VS Battler Ushiromiya (Baggy)
13**inhales** **exhales** We're fighting more Baggy creations.
Last year, I took on Baggy's Higurashi fighters (well, except for two of them). They were infamous for their cheap AI and cheap modes during battle. So it was no surprise to see them be challenging fighters. But now, I'm taking on the Umineko fighters, and honestly, these fighters for the most part may be even worse. Considering most of them are 3rd Division at least (one exception in 4th) when compared to a majority of the Higurashi ones in 4th, it speaks a lot. And before anyone says it, these are NOT the ones edited by Seravy (I may consider them later, but those fighters are something else entirely). But if my skills aren't as good in these fights, then it's because I had to play differently in some cases.
Anyways, Umineko When They Cry, or Umineko no Naku Koro ni, is another horror series from 07th Expansion, who also made Higurashi. Unlike Higurashi, Umineko only had one anime adaptation that's not as good when compared to the original Higurashi adaptations. However, it also had a fighting game spin-off called Umineko: Golden Fantasia, and one of the fighters we'll face should be an adaptation from that game.
So first up is the protagonist Battler Ushiromiya. One thing to note about these Ushiromiya fighters from Baggy is that their "cheap mode" will activate earlier and last for the rest of the match. It will heal some HP at first, but then they'll let loose with their own tactics. In Battler's case, it's a barrage of spears and a charging attack. And if you don't take him out fast, his power charge will support him.
I honestly relied too much on the SOS Swing counter here, but that's the only way I was able to take down Battler here along with keeping my distance at times. Just a steady pace to get his HP down while also dealing with his OP tactics. I was surprised I managed to get him for the SOS Live (albeit with changed audio due to copyright concerns). And this is only the first one. We've only gotten started with these Umineko fighters!
BTW, we're gonna use Touhou stages again, but we'll only do battles at a particular manor to reference the family gathering within Umineko (haven't gotten into the lore as much as Higurashi).
