Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown is a port of Duke Nukem 3D to the PlayStation 1 (PS1)! It seems to be software rendered, as I don't see texture warping near geometry. The cost of software rendering is often a lower frame rate but it doesn't seem too bad. First person shooters (FPS) tend to get quite close to geometry, thus texture warping was a big problem on the PS1. This could be why FPS games weren't as popular on the PS1 as they were on the Nintendo 64.

Unlike Duke Nukem 64, the levels on this do have music! It is basically the classic soundtrack remixed. Lee Jackson did a lot of this soundtrack and he was one of my major MIDI influences. Unfortunately I don't think the remix of the soundtrack on Total Meltdown is good. They add a lot of, in my opinion, porno beats. I am not much of a fan of that! I would have preferred a rendering of the original soundtrack on a Roland synthesizer with some reverb and other effects.

Total Meltdown comes with an exclusive bonus episode called Plug & Play! Unfortunately this game was before the dual shock PS1 controller, so its purely digital movement. I have to be honest, it is pretty hard to get used to. And perhaps that is the reason I got my ass kicked on the first level of Plug & Play. It's nice having quick saving to help get me through. But my video encoder crashed right as I got into an interesting area! Maybe I will continue it later once I get more used to playing this with the PS1 controller!
