Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals (2008) | 4K60 | Longplay Full Game Walkthrough No Commentary
Full game longplay of Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals, a Point & Click Adventure game, released in 2008 for the PC by White Bird Productions. It was based on the Nikopol Trilogy graphical novels by Enki Bilal. Here played is the GOG version, played via dgVoodoo at 4K60 (4:3 only), highest possible settings, although the game is basically just all pre-rendered backgrounds and 3D objects and characters like in Post Mortem (2002), Dracula 1-3, and Amerzone (1999). Recorded at 4K60 H.265 NVENC via OBS.
My own GOG Affiliate refflink for this game for 4 USD on GOG (also an ongoing big Halloween sale!): https://adtr.co/hzFRMz
Here is Nikopol, a late pre-rendered backgrounds type Point & Click game. The visuals are definitely not the problem, and are actually quite convincing and good-looking. Main issues with the game I had, was, like with almost all the pre-rendered types, it's length. Barely 2 hours of runtime, and the action itself is very dynamic sometimes, you just rush through the locations if you know at least a bit what to do. I feel there wasn't enough content and lenght to expand on the plot, instead we get basically a mid-game at the 40 minute mark or something, it all goes full action. Atmoshpere is definitely there, with 2023 (HELLO THERE IN 2023) quasi-cyberpunk Paris ruled by a religious dictator aaaaaaaaand, with some weird mutant animals and apparently Egyptian gods or some shiet. That second part is a bit weird, but oh well. xD The puzzles are quite advanced and not that easy, but the game simply lacks plot and dialogs. I'd rate it 7/10 perhaps, because the ambition and the world-building was very good, but the execution was poor. Ehh, as almost per usual in adventure games. :))
Summary of the early plot:
The year is 2023 and Paris is governed by a power-hungry dictator. As Alcide Nikopol you try to find a way of joining the underground rebellion and help stop the dictator's iron fist rule. The history takes a turn towards the weird, as Nikopol finds out that his father - an astronaut sent into orbital exile in cryopreservation - may be alive and well in the city. At the same time, a strange pyramid hovers over Paris, and a rumour of Egyptian gods residing in it spreads like wildfire.
