For this part, we have Cliff as our operator instead of Mizuki. I haven’t mentioned Cliff much because he’s had barely any presence in any scene he’s been in, so he’s incredibly forgettable. Also his limbs are really lanky and it kind bugs me. Eat some more protein or something, dude.

We’re now in a snow covered area. I'm sure the map in the beginning would tell me where exactly this is, but I sincerely don’t care enough to double check that. In the snow, we have poor visibility to get in our way of fighting the enemies. Cliff talks quite a bit along the way, sometimes having his own lines cut off by himself if we move faster than the game expected us to.

Ryu pretty much doesn’t respond to Cliff at all unless directly addressed. This stood out more in the original NG3 where he responded more frequently to Miyuki, so it was more obvious to tell that Ryu doesn’t particularly like Cliff.

We also go through some caves and eventually get to a big ruins area. These ruins probably feel the most like NG1. Which kind of reminds me, since places like London and New York are established in NG2 and NG3, where the hell is the Vigoorian Empire from NG1 supposed to be at? What was their political status concerning the UN? What happened to the capital city after Ryu singelhandedly demolished their military? I can’t help but have questions like that when you force realism into a series that wasn’t founded in it.

Anyways, we encounter some more new NG3 enemy types here. There’s these fast fiends that can move at high speeds and easily dodge the launcher for an Izuna Drop. They also like to spark like crazy and go in for a suicide grab as soon as one of their limbs fly off, making them particularly annoying to contend with.

Another is the scythe wielding big guys. These guys generally start hiding inside a floating head that fires lasers at Ryu. Once Ryu shoots their head, they pop out and go for melee attacks. They’re incredibly sturdy like the chimeras and not at all worth fighting normally. Just beat a SoB or spam UTs.
