Act 5-1 is where the game starts getting really hard, as enemies appear nearly everywhere on the screen, almost requiring special powers to take on all of them. Using the ledges you can stand on and hang onto from below also helps a lot, if you have prior knowledge of the enemy positions. At least 5-2 gets a bit easier, not having as many enemies crowd the screen.
Act 6-1 is also really tough with the ice physics, that can cause you to just slide off ledges while trying to fend off the enemies and the vertical corridor has flying missiles that do 3 damage each time one hits you or a bullet they shoot. Act 6-2 is also easier by comparison, and also the act 6 boss once you know the strategy.
