If you want to move up the ladders in this classic NES game at max speed, you're going to want to learn about quick climbing. Quick climbing uses very small jumps off and back on to ladders to increase the speed that you can ascend ladders and walls in the game. This tutorial addresses everything I know about the subject and goes into great detail about how the best ways to do it are.
