Ninja Gaiden (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Ninja Gaiden, as included in the 1995 Super NES Tecmo game compilation Ninja Gaiden Trilogy.
As far as I'm aware, this is the second and final official remake of the original NES title. The first was released in Japan as a 1992 PC Engine exclusive handled by Hudson, but conveniently enough it had a cheat that will change all of the game's text from Japanese to English or Chinese. As for the SNES Trilogy, this was a great value back in the day. The games weren't on the shelves anymore by 1995, and a lot of people missed the third one (as you can probably tell by its ever-climbing price for a nice, compete version), so the promise of all three on one cart with better graphics, in addition to the rebalacing of the third's difficulty level, made this a good pick back then. The graphics improvements are marginal at best, and the soundtrack got mangled (why does the 4-2 music feature a damned xylophone so prominently??), but the game plays pretty accurate to the original. So, I wouldn't say it's as good as on the NES, but it's still a great game.
For what this cart costs, though, it's not quite the steal that it was back in 1995.
