Journey to Silius (NES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Sunsoft's 1990 NES game, Journey to Silius.
Journey to Silius, or Raf World, as it was named in Japan, is one of the pillars that hold up Sunsoft's rock solid reputation for awesome action games that feature the most mind-blowing soundtracks imaginable on NES carts. This was originally intended to be a game based on the first Terminator movie, but after the license was swept away at the last minute, the development team retooled the cutscenes. The roots are still quite obvious though - rewatch the Terminator movie and then play this. It's amazing how clear the connexion between them is once you realize that it's there.
And I know I've already said it, but seriously. The music. Naoki Kodaka was for the NES something like Yuzo Koshiro was on the Sega Genesis. I think 'virtuoso' is probably the best-suited label for both of them in their utter mastery of their art and respective instruments.
One last thing: I didn't want the beginning of the video to drag too much, so I hit start and jumped into the game pretty quickly, skipping the amazing title screen music. If you want to hear the music, skip to 24:12, where I've inserted the entire song following the game's ending.
