Nintendo Amiibo Update
The latest system software update for the Wii U will make the Nintendo Amiibo figurines compatible with the console. Amiibo’s are basically little plastic figurines popular Nintendo characters such as Link, Mario, Kirby, Diddy Kong, Fox, Samus and Sonic, that can interact with certain games with built-in NFC technology. For example, if the Link Amiibo is adjoined to Mario Kart 8, he becomes playable. Each figure costs $12.99 each, and, I guess, is kind of Nintendo’s version of Skylanders.
The new update will give you a new Amiibo setting page, which allows you to register an Amiibo owner and a nickname, as well as reset or delete data for one of them. Games that will support the figures include:
Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World.
The first wave of Amiibo figures are due to ship from November 28th, with the second wave of Captain Falcon, Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, and Pit shipping from December 19th.
