The 3DS has had a good, long life, and given us several great games. With that said, I believe it is time for Nintendo to lay the 3DS to rest and focus on supporting the Switch as much as possible, so that it can be the best home, and portable device on the market. I believe this would be a good move for Nintendo. This is not to trash the 3DS, as I love it, but I simply believe this would be the best decision on Nintendo's part moving forward.
