Up until now, I've had my videos be the genuine experience. What you see me play, is what I was playing during my first recording. This video on the other hand is a second take. To sum things up, I got the Jet and used a thread to return to the beginning, assuming I could get to the Drill and got stuck.

There's one simple reason for this. You can't reach the Drill the intended way with minimum energy. It is impossible to fly up to the area where the exit portal is located in 5-1.

I swapped to a different file and decided to attempt 5-9 without the Drill. At first glance, it seems impossible. There's several bricks blocking the intended path which you're normally meant to use the Drill to progress.

This is when I began experimenting and noticed I fell through the spikes after they went off screen far enough. It's a miracle that this happens because it means I no longer need the Drill in order to complete this area. Instead I can get to 5-14 and use a glitch with the box in order to reach it. This also means that I'll be forced to go through 5-9 a second time, which as you can probably tell from the video, is absolute hell with minimum energy.

Basically, consider this video as a preview of 5-9. I didn't want to spend too long recording since I would like to practice the area a bit off screen because I honestly think it's way too difficult to go in without any practice. I already know the layout, but getting use to managing a small amount of energy is very annoying.
