1,246In today's discussion, I'm talking about my top 5 reasons that No Man's Sky could fail...if it did. Of course, like everyone else, I'm hoping this game blows everyone's expectations totally out of the water and is the space exploration sci-fi game to end all games. Still though, there's a lot we don't know about No Man's Sky, and while there's plenty of people out there that have asked a lot of questions and can draw a lot of conclusions from information we've been given (myself included!) all of the speculation in the world isn't as good as cold hard facts. With a game that has no testing period to get the player base acclimated, the game is going to be the "hit or miss" title of the year.
Now there are a lot of awesome concepts at work in No Man's Sky, and it's clear the development team is very passionate, if a bit hesitate to release information. That said, I've seen a lot of titles get touted as the next coming of (insert your deity here) only to fall flat on their faces when the audience simply didn't end up getting what they wanted. That is one of the difficulties of game creation after all, you make a game you want to be proud of, but you're also making a game that needs to be played by an audience.
I've seen everything from developers taking their money and calling it a day, leaving their game to fade into obscurity, to games ruined by the over-exaggerated desires of the players themselves.
