No Man's Sky | Is it a Single Player? Multiplayer? Can You Find Your Friends? | Discussion Gameplay
156Today I'm talking about a common question about No Man's Sky, which is, will No Man's Sky be single player or multiplayer? Will you be able to play with others or find your friends? Will it be worth it to TRY and play with friends? Sean Murray, the founder of the development team Hello Games always answers his questions a bit vaguely when it comes to No Man's Sky. Sometimes he says, "Maybe" or "Possibly" when asked about the various things you can do in the game, or the different goals that a person might have. When it comes to the style of play for No Man's Sky however, Sean has been very passionate about reminding everyone that No Man's Sky is not a MMO in any sense of the word. In fact, he mentions that if people want to travel around and fight together on various planets, they could play Destiny. Instead, he seems content to keep No Man's Sky a massive game in scope, and allow people to feel the loneliness of knowing that they're not alone in the universe, but that meeting someone else might be very rare or time consuming. Now, gamers have always found a way around any difficulties that developers can put into games, so I have no doubt that people will find a multitude of ways to interact with one another, but it has been made very clear that Hello Games isn't going to make this easy. At least, not in the way that we might think of how quickly we can meet, trade, and interact with people in Black Desert Online or even competitive games like Overwatch.
Either way, while I've been an MMO lover for years and years, I never mind trying something new, as I believe that there are gameplay styles out there that I have yet to experience and I may come to love.
