Replacing the practical suit Tom Holland was wearing with the digital hybrid suit was an extremely laborious task.
They started the process by matching the set lighting, they then proceeded with highly accurate rotomation to match the physical interactions Tom had with the other actors and the environment around him.
They then added all the original camera elements that appeared on the plate photography such as flares and interactive lighting to their digital hybrid suit.
In order to look realistic, the digital suit had to mimic all the little nuances captured in the original plate photography, right down to small suit wrinkles and subtle muscle movements, it also had to have the necessary photoreal look needed to stand up in close-up camera shots.
The hybrid Spiderman suit wasn't the only thing fully CG in No Way Home, Liberty Island was also 100% CGI.

A small scaffolding set was built for the live-action plates and the look and materials used in this set were the style and material guide for the digital environment.
Liberty Island was a detailed, photoreal, large-scale environment.

Starting with photographic reference material, detailed LIDAR scans, and satellite images, VFX artists built a digital replica of the statue of liberty and liberty island and then added details needed for the storytelling such as a construction site, scaffolding, and Captain America's shield.
One of the most important things with building such a large geometric structure as this is to ensure that it is built with all the necessary internal structures it would require in reality, and to pay close attention to the properties of the materials that would be used in a construction like this.
This not only makes for a more visually convincing model but it also plays a key role in the destruction simulations and provides a visual complexity similar to that that would be apparent in real life.

The compositing department is responsible for the final look of the shot they do this by layering (or compositing) all the different elements within a shot one on top of the other.
Like this shot for example where you can see the different elements that made up the shot.
In addition to the matte paintings and 2D elements that were layered in throughout the sequence, both heroes and villains required CG costume replacements or augmentations, and some practical sets required some CG adjustments.
