When this noble experiment winds down and calls it a day
Trying multiple new things! First of all - this is a fan-animation of the song Noble Experiment by Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 from the album Strangers From the Universe. I've been thinking about doing more "inspired" animations - where instead of animating my own stuff which is hard to come up with ideas, or animating someone else directly, I take aspects, themes, etc. and make my own little interpretation of it. So I pseudo transcribed the organ solo from the song and remade it with different instruments, and wanted to try and visualise the sort of scenario the song would play over.
A pink character is in their brutalist apartment building, and after looking out the window they leave their apartment and go downstairs. They stop to look outside again, seeing birds flying through the air. They then leave through the lobby (admiring the fish tanks) before getting outside, where nature has overgrown the block, and likely further. They see others laying on the ground, accepting this change. Meanwhile, the character looks up as the screen turns to white as the noble experiment calls it a day.
The other thing I tried was the style. Weird, right? Sort of going for a Jack Stauber vibe but unfortunately did barely any work on anything until the last three hours. I hate it when that happens! But yeah, I've been playing around with watercolour brushes and stuff. Pretty neat, I think. Might do this style again, but will hopefully actually invest time in it, LE SiGH!
