Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are changes at a specific base position in the genome. These small changes can have big effects on your appearance, your ability to process certain foods or tastes, and your predisposition to certain diseases. In this talk, Sara Sunshine gives an overview of how to use Node.js streams and the JavaScript query language GQL to search your own DNA for certain SNPs. Sara also dives into the power of resources like SNPedia, which uses semantic search to build out an association map that can tell you which SNPs are associated with certain traits or diseases.
