NOOB FRIENDLY GUIDE: How to defeat the Tree Sentinel (Easy way) | Elden Ring Walkthrough
14In this video, I'm going to give you a noob-friendly strategy so you can defeat the Tree Sentinel in Elden Ring. This was done with the Samurai Class, but I think suits probably any class with a couple of details that I'll explain.

Before we jump into the fight, there's some prep work to be done.
First, you need to level up, because this dude hits hard, very hard. I defeated him with my level 18 character, but it was basically 2 hits and you're done, so, the more you level up, the better. If you find that a little bit boring, I suggest checking my rune farming guide that will give you 20,000 runes in 1 hour. Worth a shot. And talking about money, once you're at it, try to buy the Chain Armor Set from the vendor in the Church of Elleh for good protection against the Tree Sentinel.
The second important point is, you need to get a "partisan", and the only guy that has this item in this area is the fancy general that walks around in the camp on the Gatefront Ruins.
The third crucial point is getting the Determination Ash of War. This one is located just as you hit the bridge west of Limgrave where there is a group of bandits and a Gengis Khan clone. You'll see a tiny fella rolling a sphere, chase and kill him to get the Ash of War. In order to equip the Ash of War, you need to go to the nearest Site of Grace and rest. Select the Ashes of War option, select the desired weapon you want to use it with and select the Ash of War you want. There are two options of affinity: Standard and Quality, I'm not going to lie, I don't have a clue what they do right now, but I'll let you know if I find something. The determination Ash of War uses a little bit of your FP gauge and lets you deal a massive blow, and with the partisan, you can inflict a lot of damage, especially if you're wielding it with 2 hands.
A BIG DETAIL THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW. If you equip the Ash of War on one weapon, but you have another weapon like a torch or shield that also has a skill, you need to hide that item in order to use the Determination ash of war.
4th and last crucial point, you need to get the Spirit Calling Bell and the wolves' spirit. If you don't know how to do that, check this other video here.
With all that set, let's move on with the fight.
You're going to grab your spear with both hands, sneak behind the Tree Sentinel, use the Determination Ash of War, catch up with him and do two heavy charged attacks. Just two.
Use Determination again, and do a third Heavy Charged attack. This should be enough to stagger the Sentinel, know quickly use your spirit bell to call your wolves and that's the easy part.
From this point, we have 3 options: The easiest, the easy but expensive, and the hard way.
The easiest is going to summon your horse and sprint around avoiding his hits and attacking whenever you have an option. The wolves will keep him distracted but he will defeat them quickly so be quick! Once you're on your own, keep sprinting with your magic donkey to avoid getting hit and counterattack when possible.
The easy but expensive is having bought a bunch of throwable items and keep hitting him in the distance while avoiding his hits. This is very slow but keeps your wolves alive for a lot longer so they can do more damage. When they are done, you are on your own to do the last hits.
Finally, the hard way is doing the same as the last one, but hitting him up close while constantly using the determination Ash of War. You need to time your dodges correctly and I'll have another video ready soon teaching you when to dodge, but be sure to give the other two methods a try before attempting this one.
If the luck is on your side and you prove your potato skills, you'll get the Golden Halberd and 3200 runes.
