We had previously destroyed a NATO at-sea replenishment convoy consisting of an oiler, and escort, and a submarine near Trondheim. The submarine was a bit of a surprise.
Our current mission is to intercept an Yankee carrier battle group with a Nimitz class carrier and many escorts. We cannot allow them to enter the Norwegian sea.

After playing cat and mouse with some NATO submarines, subhunters, and patrol planes, we were able to detect the approaching CVBG and intercepted it half way between Torshavn and Trondheim.
We detected at least 4 escorts, plus pinging helos. Two Type 42s, an Adams-class, and a Spruance-class. It is time to engage...

The year is 1984. For whatever reason that sounds plausible, the tension between the West and Soviet Union went taut, then snapped into open war. The Soviet Army can take Europe, if the Soviet Navy can stop or at least slow the amount of reinforcements reaching continental Europe from the US. And as a captain of a Soviet navy submarine, I will do my duty for the Motherland.
There is one mod to the campaign. I used the "Small Mods" guide (which I wrote, by the way) to remove the prestige requirement so I start in a Victor II, instead of the deathtrap diesel-electric subs like the Whiskey boats. You can learn how to do that here:
