Nosgoth-Beta gameplay and setup

Nosgoth is a game being produced by Square Enix and it takes place in the Legacy of Kain universe. It features 4 classes of humans going against 4 types of vampires. The perspective used in this game is similar to the style used in Loadout. It's a behind the shoulder, 3rd person view. This can take some getting used to and it may work better in first person, but at times it wouldn't. Being in third person, you can see some flashes of what is going on behind you which you would miss if this was an FPS.
Matches take place in medium sized arenas with 4v4 action. Humans can regain health and ammo by visiting shrines and vampires regen slowly but can also chow down on dead humans for a better regen. Vamps have the ability to move a body to a safer place where they can eat in peace. The game pretty much throws you into 1 tutorial per side and you can chose to do the others. Right now, the alchemist is bugged. The controls for vamps and humans use different keybinds similar to Evolve so be aware of that. the humans are better at range and the vampires do better close in, hugging the human to death with tight melee.
Some vampire combinations seem to be incredibly OP and work very much in the favor of the vamps. The hulk mode Tyrant types can easily cause a lot of distractions at a ground level while the flying types swoop in and carry you off. The humans can do well when they can barricade themselves into a small section and pick vamps off before they come in.
All in all, the game is fun once you get used to the somewhat unique view perspective. It remains to be seen if they can strike a good balance between the classes and the 2 opposing factions. It is free to play with what seems like a TON of options on the store. I have yet to truly look into the currency though so I can't speak on that quite yet.
