I was playing vanilla Half-Life from Steam; not Source, and without any mods or file changes. I had just downloaded the game and verified my files.
This scientist has a script associated that makes him get pulled inside the vent and get eaten by some hidden alien. However, if the scientist takes damage from the Houndeyes before you approach and trigger the scripts, the Scientist stays frozen outside, and you can even interact with him, until he disappears shortly after.
I have no idea how to fix this bug. It's probably on Valve's side. Valve pls fix.
