The hidden compartments are not accessed by placing a twig roof next to another roof, but by placing a roof through another roof, as shown by MASKWA in his Little Bunker build: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kil1NbU7ryU

The advantage is that this way of hiding loot is not yet popular, hence raiders may not recognize it.
