Nue S10 Pt2 Barok Plays Nioh
0This level also introduces the player to the concept that once you kill a boss, it doesn't necessarily mean the level is over. Meaning the level is quite large since it takes a while to even get to the first encounter. On the bright side, hopefully you unlocked the shortcut so you can quickly return for revenge if you succumb to the chimera beast known as Nue.
Nue itself is frustrating at first until you take the time and inspect it's moveset. Once you memorize it, it's a simple fight all in all.
His most dangerous attack is where he summons down circles of lightning that did around 5-600 damage per strike. If he sits up and wiggles around, he'll normally do so 4 times in a row. This attacks tracks you, but as long as you're constantly moving in one direction it will miss you. If you utilize this, you can even run toward him and after the 4th strike, you can score a blow of your own.
Be careful though, staying near Nue is a recipe to either get smacked by the tail, swiped with it's claw, or even poisoned from the tail. It also has a unique animation before it rolls forward, giving plenty of time to side roll. Be wary, lightning circles follow it's path so don't follow immediately behind to get a hit in.
On the bright side, Nue does in fact have a weakness, and a fairly exploitable one at that. It's stomach glows and if you strike it then, it knocks it's stamina out and deals critical damage. I noticed it's rolling attack doesn't have lightning chasers when it's out of stamina either. Though that could have been a fluke.
Regardless, one of the biggest dangers here is the flipping fences and clotheslines adorning the battle arena. These can limit your movement at terrible times, alongside his numerous yokai zones he spawns, this can quickly become unmanageable if you slack off on purification duty or lose track of where you are.
All in all, it's a challenging but totally fair fight. Probably my favorite boss so far to be honest.
