Okay, so now I know I CAN get lag free battles. They're just... really hard to find. And lag in this game seems to be one-way too, which is really annoying. And kinda prejudiced against Australians. Two of the matches in this session were lag-free. See if you can tell the difference!

Match 1:

Not Davide Bowie, with The First and Second Hokages

vs Kiba (Part 1), with Kiba (Part 2) and Hidan

I accidently did a custom ranked match here, meaning you'll get to see a Ninja Card Battle. From what I can tell, it's a basic rock-paper-scissors thing, but if there's a tie, the card with this higher rarity wins. Except here, we both had 5 Stars, so it ended in a draw. Meaning neither of us gets our bonus. Oh well

Here you'll see Hidan again. But this session I learned how to deal with him... just not here. This actually looks really embarresing in hindsight. It wiped out all my subs quickly, and if there's one thing I've learnt it's no subs = death. Still, I did better here than I expected, and the match ended up being pretty close. If I had hit with the Team Ultimate at the end, I would have won.

Match 2:

Totally Not David Bowie, with Joe Hokage and The First Hokage

vs Shikamaru, with Kiba and Choji (all Part 1)

YES! An actual non-lag match! YES! I even decided to record the pre-match screen just to show the three bars as proof. I honestly didn't care how the match went. But it turned out to be quite fun. Wow, no-lag battles really feel different. In lag, the game seems to turn into a one-sided combo-centric fighting game. In non-lag, it's much more strategic, with both players waiting for the right oppertunity to strike, and lots of hasty retreats. I'm more comfortable with this style.
And boy does it feel great to actually be able to block stuff. Yes, I can do that. I'm just used to non-lag timing.
There was still a lot of subbing going on here. Later on I tried to draw his subs out with assists, and I succeeded. Then I just had to close in for the kill...

and run right into a Team Ultimate. Ouch.

Match 3:

Joe Hokage, with Danzo and The First Hokage

vs Shikamaru, with Kiba and Choji (all Part 2)

And I got lucky enough to get a second lag free match... though I didn't realisse until now that it was the same guy. And it's the same team as before, only all grown up.
This match wen't a little less my way. The end was the most interesting part, I know you can time a Team Ultimate right and catch an opponent just as they're bounced back by an assist. My opponent missed the first time, but he second time I wasn't so lucky.

Match 4:

Joe Hokage, with Team Hokage

vs Guy, with Pain and Hidan

Now THIS match was laggy. But it was actually pretty fun. Hidan's back, but this time I figured out how to handle him. The trick is to only sub once. Do that, and you'll actually end up behind him when he moves out from under you. Before, I'd always sub, then go "Uh oh, I'm gonna fall back into it. Sub again!!" And repeating until I run out. That was dumb.

Keep watching though, the ending is priceless.

Match 5

Same

I intended to press "rematch with different characters" here. But still, this match was interesting. It was pretty much a direct reversal of of the previous one. I got hit with an Ultimate, and I got KO'd in almost the same way as he did. Still, a loss against Guy is as good as a win in my book.
