Nvidia's RTX 3090 has 24GB of GDDR6X and since 16Gb GDDR6X modules don't exist yet, 12GB were placed on the back. Unfortunately this has led to memory temperatures on the RTX 3090 that can well exceed the operating limit of GDDR6X.
