Starting the story of Cyrus, the Scholar (AKA the Black Mage of the game).
Key Notes:
- If you started this game using the demo, do be mindful of the three-hour time limit, which runs down as long as the game is running (without making the Switch go into Sleep Mode or exit the game to check on other system menu options). Do NOT simply leave any screen within the game running but exit the game. Though, all time used up is saved up when you save on the only file you're given.
- With that limit in mind, this also means you actually cannot play ALL the other stories' beginnings in full. It's still possible to play a second one, but with the time limit, you can't play a lot (unless you don't even care about the stories and want to speed run every single one somehow to see how many party members you can recruit). Ultimately, you must pick which story to start to and which characters nearby you want to recruit.
- The demo also doesn't let you try to speed run and go much further into a story, as roadblocks have been programmed to block you from going too far.
- Speaking of starting other stories, let me tell you this is kind of weird.
1) When you pick your starting character, the only way to start another is by first completing your first choice's story's chapter 1.
2) Once that is done, you don't go to a menu to pick another...but you wander to the next nearby settlement and find one of the other characters.
3) Speak with them, and you'll have the choice to ask them to join you, at which point - if you accept - the current story is put on hold and you're given the option to either see the beginning of your next pick's story or awkwardly start RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of their chapter 1's story right before they set out for their obligatory dungeon, which somehow makes it feel like you're being spoiled if you chose not to see the beginnings (if you accidentally do start right in the middle without seeing the past, the game lets you check previous cutscene events).
- So once you start a second tale or more and you recruit a new member, be sure to SEE THEIR BEGINNINGS.
