Octopath Traveler II: So, I bought a boat.
Well in the last video I did, so its time to explore around before making any meaningful progress in the game. So exploring I shall starting with the nameless island where a Gigantes awaits, as well as an old man that knows how to translate. Also, someone extremely thirsty for Temenos in chat... not really important to the game but just giving context to when I just randomly start talking about Temenos.
After getting off the island its time to deal with whatever is in that whirlpool because I'm pretty sure that is what I need for a hunter license... and behold, the scourge of the sea! Fun fight, lame gimmick if I wasn't over leveled... and apparently it just become a normal enemy after you beat it here so be wary of that... probably means other bosses became normal enemies in their areas.
After that I find an island that may have importance later because its got nothing really going on for it now... oh boy am I in for it in the future. After that there is a fun little maze island with a suspicious blue light in the middle of it as you make progress... more noticeable at night I think... and yeah I looked it up just in case, never proud of when I look something up, but I know for sure I would have checked around regardless... but would have been funny if I stumbled upon the answer before even attempting the maze. Anyways super job here.
Back to the sea to find more goodies. Light house found as well near the prison isle, can finally finish that side quest, and then a shipwreck with some davy bones enemies... just a great name. Some good items here, the big ones to me were Master Thief's sapphire stone and the rusty dagger. I think there is a sea god spear that lets you attack one extra time as well... wish it worked with abilities using a spear.
Back at sea there is another dangerous foe... not the scourge again but a shark... a battle-worn shark. Behind the shark is a small level 52 area called curious nest... which has some enemies I'm going to go back for... putting the description for this on April 1st and I got a fight ahead of me that could use some axes... anyways in here is a dragon with a neat battle gimmick that I assume I could have abused better to suit my needs to make it an easier fight, but I didn't need to test my theory as it was one and done, granted some soul stones helped a lot here. Behind it is a few chests with good items. I'm sure the essence will also prove pretty useful someday... I don't plan on using it even now, but still.
Back to sea once more, finding out Roque has a whole island... probably will end up here for Partitio's story at some point. There is also an item here you need for the inventor skills, but I just completely overlooked the npc and end up using a guide again in the future.
Thats enough ocean exploration for now, gonna wrap things up with a couple of side quests and turning in items for more licenses.
