UPDATE: Factory Reset still does not fix this issue.
UPDATE 2: John Camack himself responded to this! He says that the automatic power ups are for updates.

UPDATE 3: After about 3 weeks of waiting I finally got my replacement. So far so good. I've been treating this one a bit more fragile than the other one (which was already treated with extreme care). I never leave it on standby mode ever, I make sure it is powered down after each use which I'm hoping won't cause the glitch again. I'll leave this video up so people can reach out to each other to troubleshoot and vent about their situation.
I can't say customer support is bad seeing as the cto himself tweeted to me about the issue, however the email support was a bit slow. The dialog between me and customer support took well over a week, which is a long time for a $360 (CAD) brand new device. I wish they would have just taken my word for it and replaced it no questions ask like a big retailer would. There is no reason why I would "lie" about the condition of the headset, I even made a video. The couple of thousand $ they save isn't worth the negative views it creates. Being a DK1 owner, and how that was handled ($500+) I feel like when you deal with Oculus you are subsidizing their research and development rather than buying a consumer product that you can enjoy. I'll definitely NOT purchase another Oculus product out of the gate ever again until they regain my trust, I'm not a guinea pig Zuck :P
I'll still leave some of the sources of my claims, I trust Carmack so I'll presume there is no foul play (not that I even care really, I just would prefer if it didn't impact my VR experience).
