Gamma setting instructions
Note: These may not work on multiplayer servers that do not allow gamma adjustments!
1) Locate the file BaseEngine.ini (Typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\Engine\Config)
2) Change the line DisplayGamma=2.2 to DisplayGamma=1.4
3) Save the file
4) Set it as "Readonly" via file properties so the game doesn't override it
Test this in singleplayer first to confirm it worked. Multiplayer servers may force your game to the default value.
Scalability override instructions
1) Download the replacement file (BaseScalability_(quality).txt) in your Documents folder and *rename to BaseScalability.ini*
Low/mid end (980 or below): http://www.interleave-vr.com/files/BaseScalability_standard.txt
High end (980 ti and above): http://www.interleave-vr.com/files/BaseScalability_high.txt
* Open the file to see my text comments in the header.
2) Locate the original BaseScalability.ini file (Typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\Engine\Config)
3) Overwrite the game's original with the downloaded and renamed file
4) Set it as "Readonly" via file properties so the game doesn't override it
5) Run the game with the -nomansky launch option
6) When you enable VR, make sure to set the "Sky Quality" and two "Ground Clutter" sliders back to the left.
