I decided to play this whilst waiting for the Command & Conquer: Remastered patch (hopefully the performance improves).

I never owned this, although borrowed it a few times from a friend. I think I managed to beat it with the bad ending. I'm more familiar with the sequel, which I owned. The best I managed there was around 200/300 Mudokons, after several playthroughs. Although I've played neither in probably around 15 years.

The gameplay for this simple, but at the same time deceptively deep.
Being a puzzle-platform-action hybrid a lot of the better challenges (in my opinion) come from rhymtically running and jumping over a section a few times whilst giving mudokons commands, and avoiding enemies/traps.
There's a good few slower paced puzzle sequences, and stealth elements that create a good mix of puzzle style as well.

The story and atmosphere is probably the best part of the game, and the music is simple but changes to match the situation you find yourself in.
I wouldn't say it's necessarily an anti-capitalist message, but it's definitely a warning about it. Though to be honest, if you're like me, you probably enjoy taking out your frustrations of the game on the Mudokon slaves by beating them with Sligs just as much as using a Slig to kill lots of other Sligs.

Rupture Farms is a good tutorial level, even if you don't go for all the secrets (which aren't so obvious in this game - hence me almost forgetting about one and having to retrace most of the stage).
If you do go for all the secrets, you'll find yourself dealing with most of the mechanics needed to get through the rest of the game - though most of the enmy types are yet to be encountered. Learn how the Sligs work, grenade chucking and the timing of the grinders and you'll do well later.

I would recommend a first time player playing through the stage normally until you the point of no return, and then going back for all the secrets, as the secrets are definitely harder, and by that point you may have acquainted yourself enough with the controls and mechanics to be able to do them easier.

Whilst not the hardest puzzle, the one that requires you most to think outside the box is probably the one in the barrel by the switch to turn off the first electric gate. You need to know how to use grenades, and you also need to know to use the sligs ability to be pushed backwards by firing a 'round' to kill the slig below. If you simply walk off the platform facing right, the slig will kill you before you can turn and kill it.

Some of the other more difficult secrets include the first one, the one I miss and the last one. The last one will actually get you ready for the final sequence of the game, though by then you may have forgotten about it.

I'll upload one section a day, though this is probably the longest to be honest. A lot of them will probably be around 10-15 minutes.
