This game is a messy asset flip :( The best way to go about it is to keep restarting with the triangle until you get the red track in the video because all others have way more broken jumps and are longer in general. It's actually harder to be second than first, to slow down and let the AI pass you slowly tap the X button. If you hold X for too long, your position will be reset and you will be moved forward for some reason lol. You can also drive off the track for a few seconds to slow down, just try not to get stuck. Only upgrade speed and acceleration at the start, after that you don't have to upgrade ever again as it's not needed at all.
